Congratulations to Richard Boys, awarded the Clasp to the Long Service Medal for 30 years service and Carl Oakley  and Lance Hartley awarded the National Medal for 15 years service. These volunteers have dedicated themselves to the Rural Fire Service over the years and are most deserving of this award (11th Oct, 2022)

Another National Emergency Medal

Another National Emergency MedalJacqui Williams from the Tathra Rural Fire Brigade has been awarded the National Emergency Medal for her efforts during the 2019-20 fire season. The medal is awarded to those whose service must be in the protection of lives and property or in the service of interests that are not their own and who supported the emergency response for a minimum of five days between September 2019 and February 2020

Members of the Brigade played an integral part in the firefighting response during that season, starting with out-of-area strike team deployments to the far north of the State in September 2019.

National  Emergency Medal Awarded to Tathra Members

Members  of the Tathra Rural Fire Brigade have been awarded the National Emergency Medal for their efforts during the 2019-20 fire season. (16th Dec, 2021)

His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, presented the medal to a number of  volunteers and staff who provided sustained or significant service during the devastating fire season.

The medal is awarded to those whose service must be in the protection of lives and property or in the service of interests that are not their own and who supported the emergency response for a minimum of five days between September 2019 and February 2020

Members of the Brigade played an integral part in the firefighting response during that season, starting with out-of-area strike team deployments to the far north of the State in September 2019.

The Brigade  continued to assist other local brigades battling fires throughout the season through a range of roles, including as firefighters, communications operators (within Bega Fire Control Centre) and team leaders.

National Medals

2011

Congratulations to Tathra’s Captain, Adam Wiggins and Senior Deputy Captain, Jason Lewington, who were both awarded the National Medal. This medal is awarded to Operational members of military and civilian uniformed services who have exhibited diligent long service.

Ad am Wiggins commenced with the Batemans Bay Brigade as a Junior member in 1992. In 2001 he joined the Tathra Brigade and progressed through the ranks taking the appointment as Captain in 2004. Adam has been deployed to many fires and other natural disasters, including the 1994 Sydney Bushfires. He has been instrumental in coordinating various aspects of field operations during the recent Tathra Bushfires and is a strong leader for the Tathra Brigade.

Jason Lewington commenced as a Junior member in 1997 and in has progressed through the ranks to the appointment of Senior Deputy Captain in 2007. Jason  has been deployed to many fires and natural disasters in both NSW and Interstate including the 2001 Shoalhaven Bushfires, Victorian Bushfires and Wagga Floods.
