Wyndham Fires, 2009

This fire was started by lightning on the 24th of January. The fire size was around five hectares. Containment lines were constructed around the western, northern and eastern sides of the Jingera Rock and held fire under extreme weather conditions.

Aircraft were bought in to deal with spot fire outbreaks on the southern side of the main fire.

In total 11 aircraft worked on the Jingera Rock. Crews from the Rural Fire Service, National Parks and Wildlife Service and Forests NSW took part in suppressing this fire. Additional crews from the Eurobodalla also joined the fire effort. Ground crews were supported by seven bulldozers.
